This is the only life I'm going to have...

I used to be afraid of almost everything and everyone. After living in community for two years with the most courageous women I have ever met, the fear that used to take complete control of me has gotten smaller and smaller. I live bravely today and I do this by getting out of bed and showing up for my commitments.  Living bravely means pushing through fear and having faith that everything will work out just the way it is supposed to. While I was in active addiction I had people who looked at me and turned the other way. I was talked about and laughted at. I thought the world was full of mean people. One day I told myself: the next person who does that,  I'm going to smile and say "have a nice day". I was able to show compassion even at my lowest. Compassion is food for the soul. The Bravely Story

Bravely was conceived by women survivors of sexual exploitation and addiction. We have a message we want to share with the world: that recovery from trauma is possible through love, compassion, and community. Women employed at Bravely are participants in the Magdalene St. Louis residential program—a community where women live and recover together. Women in this program will likely have first experienced sexual abuse between the ages of 7 and 11, started using drugs by age 12 or 13, and have been on the streets since age 14.
